Survivor Reaches Out to Help Others
Alonso's Story
Dear Allison,
Alonso was only 10 years old when terrorists planted a bomb on his father's flight, blowing up the plane in midair. Scores of people were killed, Alonso’s father among them.
“The subject of death was something I never expected”
Like so many others affected by terrorism, Alonso had to grow up quickly, forever scarred by the loss of his father and the violence caused by extremists.
Alonso has joined with other families of the Avianca Airlines tragedy to form a foundation. Together, they work to support survivors, represent them, and give them strength.
“There are more or less forty families
and we really must do our utmost to keep that memory going”
