Goksel's Story

On a beautiful November day in Istanbul, Goksel Kortay was waiting to meet up with her husband, famed actor and singer Kerem Yilmazer, when she heard a blast. She went straight home, knowing how worried he would be.

After several agonizing hours of waiting, Goksel was told that Kerem was among the 57 people killed in a series of blasts. She would never meet her husband again.

For one year, Goksel dressed in black and never left her home. After suffering immeasurable grief, she finally made a choice to keep living and bear the burden of her husband’s unforgiveable murder.
