Alan's Story

Alan Jara spent seven years in the jungle away from his wife, Claudia Rugeles, and his son, Alan Felipe, who had to live with the uncertainty of Alan's fate.  Alan missed the death of his mother in 2002 after her long struggle with cancer, and he missed when Alan Felipe became their province’s table tennis champion in 2003.

These and countless other moments were stolen from Alan because he was kidnapped by the violent extremist group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

Watch Alan's story to learn more about how he persevered then share his inspirational story with others.
